Facebook prepares a complementary application to Instagram to boost messaging
Facebook is currently working on the development of a complementary application with its social network Instagram, known at the moment as Threads, which would provide messaging services to interact with other users.
As published by The Verge , in addition to messaging functions, the new complementary application will allow additional actions among which are sharing the location and a new state modality with Instagram friends.
According to the current development of the app, Threads is oriented to interact with the closest friends of Instagram so that the new states can provide real-time information to contacts about location and speed, among others, indicating whether the person it is moving.
This information can be added manually by the user or automatically through access to mobile phone sensors, as The Verge has warned . Threads can also access the camera to take pictures.
The messaging service, meanwhile, is similar to the one already present on Instagram, allowing to exchange both text and images and other attachments, indicating if they are connected and also see the recently published Stories.
A Facebook spokesman has assured Europa Press, when asked about the function, that at the moment from the company “do not comment on this issue.” Advances in the development of Threads occur after Instagram stopped working on its experimental Direct messaging application last May. The company’s idea is to compete with Snapchat.
